  • Description
  • The Colored Scolymia Brain is a very colorful and easy to keep coral. Colored Scolymia Brain corals are mostly disc shaped LPS (Large Polyp Stony) corals that come in a host of colors, with the most common colors being green, orange and red. More expensive specimens will have multiple colors distributed through its entire disc.

Colored Scolymia Brain corals like to be placed at the bottom of the tank and tend to do best under both moderate flow and lighting. After you have placed your Colored Scolymia Brain, look to see if it shows any signs of stress after a day or two. If any signs are noticed, slightly move the coral until it seems to be happier. Colored Scolymia Brains are pretty easy corals to care for, so they make a good choice for the beginner reef keeping.

Colored Scolymia Brain corals are not overly aggressive corals, but they can sting very close coral neighbors. Colored Scolymia Brains can also inflate their bodies fairly large, so you need to take this into account when placing one in your reef tank.

You can supplement the diet of a Colored Scolymia Brain coral with meaty foods like mysis and baby brine shimp as well as micro-plankton feed in the evening hours. Adding trace elements back into the tank can also help your Colored Scolymia Brain. This can be done by dosing or water changes.
