  • Description
  • Favia Brain corals are one of the most popular corals kept in reef tanks, especially out of the LPS (Large Stony Polyp) coral. Favia Brain coral get their name from how as they grow the coral resembles a brain.

Favia Brain corals come in a host of colors from greens to reds. They are considered rather aggressive coral and should be placed with room to grown and not too close to another coral neighbor. At night their tentacles and extend rather far and attack coral in the near vicinity.

Favia Brain coral is mostly found in the Indo-Pacific and Atlantic oceans. They can be placed just about anywhere in the tank and require both moderate flow rates and lighting. It is best to place the coral in its desired position and then move it around if it doesn’t seem happy.

Favia Brains get most of their food out of the water column. If they aren’t seeming to get enough food, adding smaller meaty foods like baby brine shrimp to your tank during the night time hours should suffice.
