  • Description
  • The Sea Fan is a truly stunning and elegant addition to any reef tank. Sea Fans grow outwards and upwards in an elegant fan like manner, hence their name. Sea Fans are found in many colors, but purple, red and orange are the most common.

    Sea Fans can be placed anywhere in your tank where they get low to moderate lighting and moderate to high flow rates. Once you have placed your Sea Fan, watch for any signs of stress. If you see any signs of stress, simply move the Sea Fan a few inches and watch for any signs of improvement.

    Sea Fans are peaceful corals and do not contain sweeper tentacles that can sting coral neighbors. You still need to give the Sea Fan adequate room for growth though, since they can get fairly large and can grow at a rapid pace.

    Sea Fans do not receive any nutrients from photosynthesis and require additional meaty foods. Sea Fans will get some food from the water column, but should also be fed. Foods like mysis and baby brine shrimp or micro-plankton will keep your Sea Fan healthy and thriving.
