  • Description
  • The Hammer Branch Coral is a stunning and very interesting LPS (Large Polyp Stony) coral. Hammer Branch Corals tend to grow separate heads of polyps in the branching manner. Hammer Branch Corals have tentacles that resemble hammers, hence their name.

Hammer Branch Corals do best when placed in the bottom to middle of the aquarium. Hammer Branch Corals like both moderate water flow and lighting. After you have placed your Hammer Branch Coral in its desired location, look for full polyp extension after a day or two. If you notice that the Hammer Branch Corals tentacles have recessed, slightly move the coral until you see better polyp extension.

Hammer Branch Corals are aggressive corals and will attack neighboring corals. Hammer Branch Corals have the ability to extend their tentacles far into the aquarium and sting neighbors. You should take this into account when placing your Hammer Branch Corals. Hammer Branch Corals are fairly difficult to keep since they require fairly pristine water conditions, but also need a decent amount of food.

Hammer Branch Corals are carnivores and do best when there are meaty foods available to them. Foods like mysis and brine shrimp as well as micro-plankton will keep your Hammer Branch Coral healthy and thriving.
