  • Description
  • The Hairy Mushroom is a very colorful and elegant mushroom coral. Hairy Mushrooms come in a host of colors but are mostly found in green and tan hues. Hairy Mushrooms grow in an encrusting manner and will spread over your rock forming a beautiful undersea garden.

Hairy Mushrooms should be placed in the middle to bottom of your tank and need both moderate lighting and water flow. Once you have placed your Hairy Mushroom, watch for any signs of stress. If you notice any stress, simply move your Hairy Mushroom a few inches and watch for signs of improvement.

Hairy Mushrooms can be somewhat aggressive to neighboring corals, mainly be aggravating and forcing them to retract. Hairy Mushrooms can also grow over some corals. Take this into account when placing Hairy Mushrooms in your tank.

Hairy Mushrooms get most of their nutrition through photosynthesis and the water column and shouldn't require much additional feedings. If you would like to supplement the diet of your Hairy Mushroom, simply feed the tank meaty foods like mysis and baby brine shrimp or plankton in the evening hours.
