  • Description
  • The Striped Mushroom is a very hardy and colorful mushroom coral. Striped Mushrooms grow in an encrusting method over live rock and come in a host of colors and patterns. The most common color seems to be green.

    Striped Mushrooms can be placed anywhere in the aquarium and like moderate lighting and low to moderate flow rates. Once you find a good place to put your Striped Mushroom, watch it after a few days for signs of stress. If the coral looks good, it should be fine, otherwise simply move the coral slightly until you see it start to look better.

    Striped Mushrooms are semi-aggressive corals and might aggravate some nearby coral neighboring corals. They normally won't kill the coral, but the aggravation is not good for other corals. Please also remember that Striped Mushrooms will spread out as they grow, so take that into mind when placing them.

    Striped Mushrooms get most of their nutrition through photosynthesis, but can sometimes benefit from additional feedings of meaty foods. Foods like mysis and brine shrimp as well as micro-plankton can help your Striped Mushroom thrive. It is best to feed them in the evening hours as well.
