  • The Halimeda Plant is a very useful and attractive marine plant. Halimeda Plant is a very popular macroalgae with many marine aquarists. Halimeda Plants grow on a long string with each of its leaves being round green leaves.

    Halimeda Plants are commonly found both in display tanks and also in refugiums. It is more common to see Halimeda Plants in the refugium, since in display tanks they can grow rather large and fast and take over the tank. Many seahorse keeps will often put Halimeda Plants in their display to give the seahorses naturally plants to hang on to.

    Halimeda Plants require both moderate lighting and flow rates to grow well. Having a good level of calcium is also important to the growth of your Halimeda Plant. Halimeda Plants will need to be pruned in both display tanks and refugiums, although cutting too much of the plant off will hurt the Halimeda Plant.

    Halimeda Plants rely mostly on photosynthesis and nutrients in your tank to grow. They should not require any supplemental feedings. Halimeda Plants overtime should also lower the nitrates in your tank if kept successfully and trimmed.
