  • Description
  • The Koran Angelfish is one of the most popular and desired of all the full sized angels. With a maximum size of around 14 inches, the Koran Angel can be a true showpiece fish in any aquarium.

The Koran Angel starts life as a juvenile with a black body with bright white and electric blue semi-circular strips on its body. As it ages, their body starts to become a bit lighter and the stripes turn into spots. The Koran Angelfish can also develop long stunning streamers as adults as well.

Being a very large angelfish, the Koran Angel requires a tank of at least 220 gallons to thrive as an adult. The Koran Angel shouldn’t really be kept in a reef aquarium, since it has been known to nip at soft and hard coral, as well as clams. They have been kept successfully in reefs, but it’s really up to the individual personality of each fish. It is often best to keep just one angelfish in your tank, since they can be territorial and aggressive to other angels.

Lots of rock can really be beneficial to the Koran Angel, since the Koran loves to grave on algae and cyanobacteria found on rocks. A diet rich in Spirulina, algae and mysis shrimp will really help your Koran Angel flourish.
