  • The Rusty Angelfish is a very unique and colorful dwarf angel. Its body is mostly a rusty orange color with red and blue highlights. This angelfish can be a very attractive addition to any aquarium.

    The majority of the Rusty Angels body is a rusty red/orange color with dark spots. Its fins fade from red to a dark blue color. The Rusty Angelfish only reaches a full adult size of 4 inches, so it can be kept in aquariums as small as 55 gallons. It is advised to not keep more than one dwarf angelfish in a smaller aquarium, since they can be pretty aggressive and territorial to similar angelfish specicies.

    The Rusty Angel is not a reef safe angelfish, since it has been known to nip and pick at corals including both hard and soft variants. They can also bother invertebrates like clams as well. People have successfully kept Rusty Angels in reef tanks, but it’s really up to the individual fish and it’s personality as to the luck you’d have with one in your reef.

    Having a lot of established rock in your aquarium will really help a Rusty Angelfish flourish, since it will having hiding spaces if spooked and algae to graze on between feedings. Also to really thrive, a Rusty Angelfish needs a diet rich in Spirulina, mysis shrimp and algae.
