  • Description
  • The Red Belted Anthias is a very colorful and active anthias. Red Belted Anthias have a mostly orange body with a strong pink vertical bar in the middle of their body.

Red Belted Anthias reach a maximum adult size of around 5 inches and need to be kept in tanks that are at least 125 gallons. Red Belted Anthias are semi-aggressive fish, but shouldn't bother most other fish, coral and inverts in your tank. For this reason they are great fish to keep in reef tanks. Red Belted Anthias will show lots of aggression towards other anthias though. Male Red Belted Anthias will also be aggressive towards other male Red Belted Anthias. For this reason it is best to keep a group of all female Red Belted Anthias, or one male with multiple females.

Red Belted Anthias are super active fish and will be out and about the tank all day long. Since Red Belted Anthias are typically found at deeper depths, they tend to enjoy tanks with slightly cooler water. They will also do better when given hiding places like caves made of live rock. The intense lighting found in our reef tanks can sometimes be too much for them and they need a break.

Red Belted Anthias are carnivores and require a diet that is rich in meaty foods. Foods like mysis and brine shrimp, high quality meaty frozen foods and high quality flake foods should keep your Red Belted Anthias healthy and happy. Also Red Belted Anthias do best when fed a few small meals a day instead of one large meal.

Please feel free to contact us at any time if you have any questions about the Red Belted Anthias and if they are the right fish for your tank.
