  • Description
  • Orbiculate Batfish are a stunning and truly unique fish. Orbiculate Batfish can make an amazing addition to just about any large FOWLR tank.

Orbiculate Batfish can reach a fully grown adult size of around 20 inches and need to be kept in large tanks of at least 240 gallons. Since Orbiculate Batfish reach their maximum size when measured top to bottom, they do better in taller tanks. Orbiculate Batfish have very long and tall bodies, they are tan with wide white and dark brown vertical stripes. They somewhat resemble bats, hence their name.

Orbiculate Batfish are really not meant to be housed in reef tanks, since they will eat inverts and will also pick at coral and anemones. If housing Orbiculate Batfish in a large FOWLR tanks, just make sure they are not housed with fish that are too aggressive. Orbiculate Batfish are peaceful fish by nature, and do a poor job of defending theirselves.

Orbiculate Batfish are omnivores and require a diet rich in both meaty and green foods. Food such as mysis and brine shrimp, chunks of fresh seafood like shrimp and clam and high quality frozen foods will really help your Orbiculate Batfish stay nice and healthy. Multiple smaller feedings a day will also tremendously help out your Orbiculate Batfish.
