  • Description
  • The Canary Blenny is a bright yellow blenny, hence its name. The Canary Blenny stays rather small and can be kept in smaller tanks. The Canary Blenny is a great choice to add a dash of color to your reef aquarium.

The Canary Blenny reaches about 3 inches in adult form, with the males being somewhat larger than females. The Canary Blenny can be kept in an aquarium as small as 20 gallons. Although rather small, it is suggested that you only keep a mated pair of Canary Blennies together to keep aggression down. Canary Blennies have been known to change color during periods of their lives as well.

Canary Blennies can be chased by larger more aggressive fish, but will nip back at them with a venomous bite. Being venomous, it is important you pay attention while working in a tank around a Canary Blenny. Canary Blennies are considered reef safe and should not pick or nip at corals or inverts.

The Canary Blenny is an omnivore, so it should be given a diet rich in foods such as mysis and brine shrimp, as well as being offered algae to really thrive.
