  • The Camel Cowfish is a large and very interesting cowfish. Camel Cowfish have a very unique box shaped body with various spikes on it. The majority of their body is tan with some dark brown markings.

    Camel Cowfish reach a maximum adult size of around 12 inches and need to be kept in tanks that are at least 90 gallons. Camel Cowfish are peaceful fish and shouldn't bother other fish or coral in your tank. This makes them a decent choice for reef tanks, although they have been known to eat some inverts found in reef tanks.

    It is best to not place a Camel Cowfish in tanks with larger more aggressive fish. When threatened Camel Cowfish will release a toxin into the water than can wipe the tank out. Camel Cowfish are also one of the harder species to successfully keep in tanks as well.

    Camel Cowfish are omnivores and require a diet that is rich in both meaty and green foods. Foods like mysis and brine shrimp, high quality frozen foods and high quality flake and pellet foods will help your Camel Cowfish stay healthy and thrive in your tank. Camel Cowfish can be picky eaters when first introduced to life in captivity, so they might require live feeder foods to start eating.
