  • Description
  • The Blue Blotch Butterfly is a stunning and super colorful butterflyfish. Blue Blotch Butterflies have a mostly yellow body with a strong black stripe through their eyes and a black spot before their tails. Blue Blotch Butterflies also have a large blue spot on their body.

Blue Blotch Butterflyfish reach a maximum adult size of around 6 inches and need to be kept in tanks that are at least 90 gallons in size. Blue Blotch Butterflies are peaceful fish that should not bother other fish or inverts in your tank. Blue Blotch Butterflies will nip at most soft and hard corals, which makes them a bad choice for reef tanks.

Blue Blotch Butterflyfish are best suited to be kept in larger fish only with live rock tanks, where they will add a great dash of color to any tank. Blue Blotch Butterflies are peaceful and shy fish, and should be offered plenty of hiding places. Live rock gives your Blue Blotch Butterfly great places to hide and also will allow them to pick at small inverts off of the rock between feedings. Being peaceful fish, Blue Blotch Butterflies should not be housed with large very aggressive fish.

Blue Blotch Butterflies are carnivores and require a diet that is rich in meaty foods. Foods like mysis and brine shrimp, high quality meaty frozen foods, small pieces of fresh seafood and high quality pellet and flake foods should keep your Blue Blotch Butterflyfish healthy and happy. Blue Blotch Butterflies might require some live feeder foods to get used to eating in your tank at first.
