  • The Copperband Butterflyfish is a stunning and great addition to any tanks. With its bright white, orange and yellow coloration, the Copperband Butterfly is one of the prettiest of all reef fish.

    The Copperband Butterflyfish can reach sizes up to 8 inches, so it needs to be housed in an aquarium that is at least 90 gallons. The Copperband Butterfly should mostly be kept as the only Butterflyfish in smaller tanks. They are pretty shy and docile, and can easily be bullied during feeding time.

    For the most part, the Copperband Butterflyfish is considered reef safe. They have been known to nip and eat some corals and inverts though. It’s really up to the personality of each individual fish if you end up with a reef safe Copperband Butterfly. One very common use for the Copperband Butterfly is to aid with the removal of aiptasia. Not all Coppperband Butterflyfish develop a taste for the pest though.

    The Copperband Butterflyfish has a silvery-white body with thick orange and yellow vertical strips and fins. They are very distinctive and hard to confuse with other fish. The Copperband Butterfly needs a diet rich in meaty foods. They are hard to get to feed in an aquarium, so using live food such as feeder shrimp and bloodworms can aid in helping a Copperband Butterfly get used to life in an aquarium. Over time, frozen foods like mysis and brine shrimp should be accepted.
