  • Description
  • The Horned Heniochus is a very interesting and unique butterflyfish. Horned Heniochus are mostly brown to tan in color and have a strong white vertical stripe behind their eyes and in front of their tails. Horned Heniochus also have a raise bump on their heads and horns over their eyes.

Horned Heniochus reach a maximum adult size of around 7 inches and need to be kept in tanks that are at least 90 gallons. Horned Heniochus are peaceful fish and should leave most other fish and inverts alone. Horned Heniochus have been known to nip at some corals, so please keep that in mind if adding a Horned Heniochus to your reef tank.

Horned Heniochus do well in pairs, but they really need to be added to your tank at the same time. Horned Heniochus really need to be kept in tanks where there is lots of live rock for them to take shelter in if they feel threatened, since they are such peaceful fish.

Horned Heniochus are omnivores and require a diet that is rich in both meaty and green foods. Foods like mysis and brine shrimp, nori and marine algae sheets, high quality frozen foods and high quality flake and pellet foods should keep your Horned Heniochus healthy and happy.
