  • Description
  • The Punctato Butterflyfish is a smaller and brightly colored butterfly. Punctato Butterflyfish have a mostly tan and yellow body with strong black vertical stripes. As the Punctato Butterflyfish ages, it becomes more yellow in coloration.

Punctato Butterflies reach a maximum size of around 5 inches and need to be kept in tanks that are at least 55 gallons in size. Punctato Butterflyfish are very peaceful fish and shouldn't bother other fish or inverts in your tank. Punctato Butterflyfish will nip and eat some coral, so they are not a good fish to add to your reef tank.

Punctato Butterflyfish do best with kept in fish only tanks with very peaceful fish. Since they are so timid, it is best to keep them in tanks with lots of live rock for them to hide in if they feel threatened. Punctato Butterflyfish will spend most of their days graving on live rock for small inverts and algae.

Punctato Butterflyfish are omnivores and require a diet that is rich in both meaty and green foods. Foods like nori and marine algae sheets, mysis and brine shrimp, high quality frozen foods and high quality pellet and flake foods will keep your Punctato Butterflyfish healthy and help it thrive.
