  • Description
  • The White-face Butterflyfish is a stunning and rare Butterflyfish. White-face Butterflies have a white face which transitions into a darker body with strong black vertical stripes. White-face Butterflyfish will also have yellow highlights in their tails.

White-face Butterflyfish reach a maximum adult size of around 5 inches and need to be kept in tanks that are at least 75 gallons in size. White-face Butterflies are peaceful fish and shouldn't bother other fish or inverts in the tank. White-face Butterflyfish might pick at some hard coral, anemones and mushrooms, meaning that you must proceed with caution if adding a White-face Butterflyfish to your reef tank.

White-face Butterflyfish are very shy fish and will do best in tanks that have lots of hiding room for them if they feel threatened. The best way to provide hiding areas for them is to have a tank with lots of live rock. White-face Butterflies will also spend a lot of their day picking at the rock for small inverts and anemones to eat between feedings. White-face Butterflies can be kept in small groups, but it's best to add them at the same time.

White-face Butterflyfish are carnivores and require a diet that is rich in meaty foods. Foods like mysis and brine shrimp, high quality meaty frozen foods and high quality flake and pellet foods should make your White-face Butterflyfish thrive in your tank.
