The Ruby Cardinal is a stunning all red cardinal. Ruby Cardinals have a deep red body that is fully red.

Ruby Cardinals reach a maximum size of around 2 inches and can be kept in tanks as small as 29 gallons. Ruby Cardinal are pretty peaceful fish and shouldn’t bother any other fish, coral or inverts in your tank. This makes them a great fish for reef tanks. Ruby Cardinals can be aggressive to other cardinals and should only be kept in small groups. Ruby Cardinals should also not be kept with larger more aggressive fish, since they can’t defend themselves well. Having lots of live rock will also provide hiding places for them.

Ruby Cardinals are interesting in that they are nocturnal fish. While most fish are sleeping, Ruby Cardinals will be out and about in your tank, adding a nice bit of movement in the tank at night.

Ruby Cardinals are carnivores and require a diet rich in meaty foods. Foods such are mysis and brine shrimp, high quality meaty frozen foods and high quality flake and pellet foods will keep your Ruby Cardinals healthy and happy.
