  • Description
  • The Staghorn Damsel is a very attractive and colorful damselfish. Staghorn Damsels have a mostly white body with strong blue vertical stripes and yellow hues on their bodies.

Staghorn Damselfish reach a maximum adult size of around 3 inches and need to be kept in tanks that are at least 29 gallons. Staghorn Damsels are semi-aggressive fish that shouldn't bother too many other fish, coral or inverts in your tank. For this reason, Staghorn Damsels are great additions to reef tanks. Being hardy fish, Staghorn Damsels are also good fish for beginner aquarists.

In smaller tanks, Staghorn Damsels can be aggressive towards other damsels, clownfish and chromis. For this reason, you should try to add Staghorn Damsels to tanks with those other listed fish, if your tank is slightly large to try to avoid aggression. Staghorn Damsels will do well in small groups if they are introduced at the same time and will add a nice dash of color and movement to your tank.

Staghorn Damsels are omnivores and require a diet that is rich in both meaty and green foods. Foods like mysis and brine shrimp, high quality frozen foods and high quality flake and pellet foods will keep your Staghorn Damsel healthy and happy.
