  • The Striped Dottyback is a colorful and until recently rarely seen fish in home aquariums. Striped Dottybacks have a white body with thick black horizontal stripes.

    Striped Dottybacks reach a maximum size of around 3 inches and need to be kept in tanks that are at least 29 gallons in size. Striped Dottybacks are very peaceful fish and shouldn’t bother other fish, coral or inverts in your tank. For this reason Striped Dottybacks make a great addition to reef tanks. Striped Dottybacks should not be kept with overly aggressive large fish, since they are not able to defend themselves. Striped Dottybacks might also be aggressive to other Dottybacks in smaller aquariums.

    Striped Dottybacks need to be kept in tanks with lots of live rock as well. Not only will they pick at worms and small inverts off of the rocks, but they will also love having places to hide if they feel threatened. Striped Dottybacks are fairly good jumpers, so they should be kept in tanks with tight fitting lids with no gaps large enough for them to jump through.

    Striped Dottybacks are carnivores and require a diet that is rich in meaty foods like mysis and brine shrimp, high quality meaty frozen foods and small pieces of fresh seafood.
