  • The Banded Goby is a very rare and colorful goby. Banded Gobies have a mostly whitish pink body with strong vertical black stripes lined with yellow. Banded Gobies also have a mostly yellow head.

    Banded Gobies reach a maximum adult size of around 4 inches and need to be kept in tanks that are at least 20 gallons in size. Banded Gobies are strong jumpers and need to be kept in tanks that have a tight fitting lid with no holes large enough for them to jump through if spooked. Banded Gobies are peaceful fish and shouldn't bother other fish, coral or inverts in your tank. This makes the Banded Goby a great fish to add to reef tanks.

    In smaller tanks, Banded Gobies might be aggressive towards other gobies over their territories, this should not be an issue in larger tanks. Banded Gobies should be kept in tanks with establish live rock and sand for them to burrow in. Banded Gobies will spend most of their days looking for small inverts to eat in the sand or on the live rock. Without either, the Banded Goby might become stressed and ill.

    Banded Gobies are carnivores and require a diet that is rich in meaty foods. Foods like mysis and brine shrimp, high quality meaty frozen foods and small pieces of fresh seafood should keep your Banded Goby healthy and happy. Just make sure that the food is small enough to fit in its small box.
