  • The Catalina Goby is a stunning and very colorful goby. Catalina Gobies have a long slender red and orange body with very distinct bright blue vertical stripes along the front half of its body. The Catalina Goby can change sex based on what is need in its environment as well. Males will have darker and longer fins.

    Catalina Gobies are found in cooler waters around California and Mexico in the Pacific Ocean. The Catalina Goby is a smaller fish, only reaching a maximum size of 2 inches as an adult. Catalina Gobies can be kept in an aquarium as small as 10 gallons. Catalina Gobies are known as jumpers and need a tank with any small holes covered, because if spooked the Catalina Goby will try to jump out of an aquarium.

    Catalina Gobies are reef safe fish that will not bother other fish, corals in inverts in your tank. The Catalina Goby might only chase other similar species gobies in smaller tanks. Catalina Gobies are not shy and should be seen throughout the day in your tank. Lots of rock is needed in a tank for a Catalina Goby to feel safe and have a hiding space if it feels threatened.

    Catalina Gobies are carnivores and require a diet rich in meaty foods. Foods such as mysis and brine shrimp, cyclopeeze, frozen meaty foods, pellets and flake foods should be offered to your Catalina Goby for it to stay healthy and thrive.
