  • Description
  • The Steinitz Goby is a very beautiful and interesting goby. Steinitz Gobies have a mostly white body with orange to tan thick vertical stripes and blue spots.

Steinitz Gobies reach a maximum adult size of around 5 inches and need to be kept in tanks that are at least 10 gallons. Steinitz Gobies are peaceful fish and should get along well with other fish, coral and inverts in your tank. This makes the Steinitz Goby a great fish for reef tanks. Steinitz Gobies are hardy fish and a good fish for beginner aquarists. Steinitz Gobies are known jumpers and should only be kept in tanks that have a tight fitting lid with no holes large enough for them to jump through if spooked.

Since Steinitz Gobies are such peaceful fish, they should not be kept with large and aggressive fish since they are not good at defending themselves. Steinitz Gobies can be kept in smaller tanks in mated pairs, but might be aggressive towards other gobies. If you want to keep multiple Steinitz Gobies or other gobies with the Steinitz Goby, you should have a larger tank. Steinitz Gobies will excel in tanks that have lots of live rock and sand for them to look for small inverts to eat between feedings.

Steinitz Gobies are carnivores and require a diet that is rich in meaty foods. Foods like mysis and brine shrimp, small pieces of fresh seafood, high quality flake and pellet foods and high quality meaty frozen foods will keep your Steinitz Goby healthy and happy.
