  • Description
  • The Yellow Prawn Goby is an interesting and colorful fish to add to your aquarium. The Yellow Prawn Goby has a long yellow body with small electric blue spots going from its head to its tail.

Yellow Prawn Gobies can reach a maximum size of 4 inches and need to housed in an aquarium that is at least 29 gallons in size. Yellow Prawn Gobies are mostly peaceful fish, but can be aggressive to other gobies. If you plan on having multiple Yellow Prawn Gobies in your tank, it is best to add a mated pair. Yellow Prawn Gobies will not bother other fish, inverts or coral found in reef tanks.

One of the fascinating traits of the Yellow Prawn Goby, is that they form a symbiotic relationship with some species of pistol shrimp. Yellow Prawn Gobies spend most of their day on the sand bed or in the live rock. It is important that you have live rock for the Yellow Prawn Goby to hide in if spooked and also a decent depth sand bed for them to burrow in. Yellow Prawn Gobies are strong jumpers, and are known to jump out of aquariums. If you plan on keeping Yellow Prawn Gobies, you need to have a tight fitting hood with no holes big enough for them to jump out of.

Yellow Prawn Gobies are carnivores and require a diet rich in meaty foods. Foods such as mysis and brine shrimp, high quality frozen foods and small chunks of fresh seafood are best for Yellow Prawn Gobies.
