  • The Barred Hamlet is a very interesting and rarely seen fish in home aquariums. Barred Hamlets have a mostly white body with strong brown and tan thick vertical stripes on their bodies.

    Barred Hamlets reach a maximum adult size of around 6 inches and need to be kept in tanks that are at least 90 gallons in size. Barred Hamlets are semi-aggressive fish that shouldn't bother too many fish, coral or inverts in your tank. Barred Hamlets might go after very small fish and also some inverts, so if you want to add a Barred Hamlet to your reef tank, please only proceed with caution.

    Barred Hamlet will do best when they are kept in tanks with lots of established live rock. Barred Hamlets might need to retreat into the rock work if they feel threatened. Also Barred Hamlets will pick at the rock for small inverts between feedings. Barred Hamlets should do well in small groups in larger tanks if they are introduced at the same time.

    Barred Hamlets are carnivores and need to be fed a diet that is rich in meaty foods. Foods like mysis and brine shrimp, high quality meaty frozen foods and small chucks of fresh seafood should help keep your Barred Hamlet healthy and thriving.
