  • The Blood Red Hawkfish is a stunning red and white hawkfish. Blood Red Hawkfish have a red body with thick vertical red stripes and white markings on its face.

    Blood Red Hawkfish reach a fully mature size of around 5 inches, and can be housed in aquariums as small as 29 gallons. Blood Red Hawkfish can be rather aggressive and should be housed with fish that are larger and can defend themselves. The Blood Red Hawkfish will bother or eat smaller fish and inverts.

    Since Blood Red Hawkfish will pick at smaller fish and inverts like shrimp and crabs, you should proceed with caution if wanting to add a Blood Red Hawkfish to your reef tank.

    Being carnivores, Blood Red Hawkfish need a diet very rich in meaty foods. Food such as mysis and brine shrimp, fresh seafood and live feeder shrimp are great to offer Blood Red Hawkfish. Having lots of rock for Blood Red Hawkfish to hide in and perch in will also help your Blood Red Hawkfish get used to life in an aquarium and thrive.
