  • Description
  • The Yellowhead Jawfish is a very colorful and fun fish to have in your tank. Yellowhead Jawfish have a yellow head that fades into a whitish blue color to the back of its body.

Yellowhead Jawfish can reach a maximum size of 4 inches and shouldn’t be kept in tanks smaller than 29 gallons. The Yellowhead Jawfish is reef safe and shouldn’t bother anything but the smallest fish and inverts, and should leave coral alone. Yellowhead Jawfish need a lot of rockwork in the tank, so they can hide while looking for food. Also a thick sand bed is needed for the Yellowhead Jawfish to burrow in.

Yellowhead Jawfish are very fun fish to keep in your tank, since they are not shy and should interact with people that come up to the tank. You can multiple Yellowhead Jawfish together in the same tank and they will each find their own burrow to call their own.

The Yellowhead Jawfish are carnivores and need a diet rich in meaty foods to thrive. Since the Yellowhead Jawfish are pretty laid back eaters, they shouldn’t be kept with overly aggressive eaters or fish in general. If you can feed close to their borrow, it would really help the Yellowhead Jawfish get used to feeding. Foods like mysis and brine shrimp, bloodworms and small pieces of fresh seafood should help your Yellowhead Jawfish stay healthy and flourish in your tank.
