  • Description
  • The Dwarf Zebra Lionfish is a very colorful and interesting smaller lionfish. Dwarf Zebra Lionfish have a brown body with various red and white markings. Dwarf Zebra Lionfish are extremely popular because of their interesting fan shaped fins and very quills.

Dwarf Zebra Lionfish can reach a fully grown adult size of around 10 inches, and should be kept in a tank no smaller than 55 gallons. Dwarf Zebra Lionfish can be aggressive to smaller fish and invertebrates, so you should take caution when adding them to a reef tank. The Dwarf Zebra Lionfish will try to eat anything it can fit into its mouth. If you are stung by one of the venomous quills, you should keep the sting under hot water. If the sting doesn’t get much better, you should seek medical help.

When a Dwarf Zebra Lionfish is first introduced to an aquarium, it will hide until it is acclimated with its environment. For this reason, it is very important that you have a lot of rock for the Dwarf Zebra Lionfish to hide in when it feels threatened.

Dwarf Zebra Lionfish are carnivores and should be feed live foods at first to get them used to life in an aquarium. Live feeder shrimp are a great food to start with. Over time the Dwarf Zebra Lionfish should accept foods like fresh chopped sea food including fish and crustaceans.
