  • Flounder are a very unique and interesting fish to add to your aquarium. The Flounder lays on its side blending into the sand waiting for prey to come by.

    Flounder can reach a fully grown adult size of 14 inches and need to be kept in aquariums that are at least 125 gallons in size. Flounders have a sand colored body with various black, blue and yellow marking on it. Both eyes are on one side of its body.

    Flounders need an aquarium with a thick sand bed that it can burrow in and lay in wait for food to come by. Flounders can be kept in reef aquariums, but you need to be aware that they will try to eat smaller fish and invertebrates.

    Flounders are carnivores, so they require a diet rich in meaty foods. Food such as high quality fresh seafood should be cut into appropriate sized pieces for your Flounder.
