  • The Smooth Hound Shark is a very elegant smaller shark. Smooth Hound Sharks have a long slender body that is gray on the top and white on its underside.

    Smooth Hound Sharks reach a maximum size of around 50 and need to be kept in tanks that are at least 400 gallons in size. Smooth Hound Sharks are aggressive fish and shouldn't be kept with any fish that they can fit into their mouths. For this reason Smooth Hound Sharks are a bad choice for reef tanks, they can also knock over a lot of rock and coral in your tank given their large size.

    Smooth Hound Sharks require a large aquarium with a deep and soft substrate. Any coarse sand can scratch them and lead to dangerous bacterial infections. Smooth Hound Sharks are very hard to keep in home aquariums, and should only be attempted by expert aquarists or people that have experience keeping sharks.

    Smooth Hound Sharks are tough to get eating in home aquariums, and might require live foods to get them used to eating in captivity. After they have become accustomed to eating in an aquarium, they are fairly hardy fish and will eat large pieces of fresh seafood.
