  • The Humpback Snapper is a brilliant red snapper. Humpback Snappers have a body that is completely red in coloration. Their bellies are a more vibrant red that fades towards the top of their body.

    Humpback Snappers reach a maximum adult size of around 20 inches and need to be kept in tanks that are at least 240 gallons. Humpback Snappers are mostly peaceful fish and should leave most fish and coral alone. Humpback Snappers might eat smaller fish and inverts though, which means if you want to add one to a reef tank you must proceed with caution.

    Humpback Snappers do very well when kept in small groups since they tend to be schooling fish in the wild. Adding a small group of Humpback Snappers to a large fish only tank will bring a huge splash of color and movement to your tank. Humpback Snappers are strong swimmers and need to be kept in tanks with plenty of swimming room.

    Humpback Snappers are carnivores and require a diet that is rich in meaty foods. Foods such as silversides, mysis and brine shrimp as well as chunks of fresh seafood like krill, clam, scallops and shrimp will make sure that your Humpback Snapper thrives if your system.
