  • Description
  • The Metallic Squirrelfish is a very attractive and stunning squirrelfish. Metallic Squirrelfish have a mostly silver body with strong dotted red horizontal stripes and yellow and red fins and tail.

Metallic Squirrelfish reach a maximum adult size of around 9 inches and need to be kept in tanks that are at least 75 gallons. Metallic Squirrelfish are peaceful fish that shouldn't bother other fish, coral or inverts in your tank. This makes the Metallic Squirrelfish a great fish to add to reef aquariums. Larger Metallic Squirrelfish have been known to eat smaller inverts, so if you are adding one to a reef tank, please only proceed with caution.

Metallic Squirrelfish can be kept in small groups in larger tanks, but should be added at the same time to reduce the chance of aggression. Having lot of live rock in your tank will also help your Metallic Squirrelfish adjust to live in your aquarium. Metallic Squirrelfish will make territories our of different rock structures and also use them to take shelter from other fish and harsh tank lighting.

Metallic Squirrelfish might be hard to get eating in their new tank, so you can use live feeder shrimp to get their feeding response started. After they are used to eating, you can use prepared foods like high quality meaty frozen foods and chunks of fresh seafood to get your Metallic Squirrelfish eating.
