The California Stingray is a very elegant and rarely seen stingray in home aquariums. California Stingrays have a mostly tan body with various lighter markings on their bodies.

California Stingrays reach a maximum adult size of around 17 inches and need to be kept in tanks that are at least 180 gallons. California Stingrays are peaceful fish and should bother most fish in your tank. California Stingrays need to be kept in tanks with a thick soft layer of sand since they spend most of their day on the tank floor. Rougher substrates can scratch their skin and lead to infections.

California Stingrays are an extremely hard to keep and delicate species. California Stingrays should only be attempted to be kept by expert aquarists or people that have had vast experience with the species in the past.

California Stingrays are carnivores and need a diet that is rich in meaty foods. Younger California Stingrays will do best when fed a diet of crabs, older individuals will need a more specialized diet.
