  • Description
  • The Bristletooth Tomini Tang is a unique and colorful surgeonfish. Bristletooth Tomini Tangs have a mostly gray body with bright orange fins and a white tail. Bristletooth Tomini Tangs bright orange fins give it the nickname of Flame Fin Tang.

Bristletooth Tomini Tangs reach a maximum size of 6 inches and can be kept in a tank that is at least 55 gallons. Bristletooth Tomini Tangs tend to enjoy swimming room, so having a longer tank is more beneficial. Bristletooth Tomini Tangs are peaceful to most other fish, coral and inverts and are great additions to reef tanks. Bristletooth Tomini Tangs will be aggressive to other tangs though, especially those in the Ctenochaetus family. To help reduce the chance of tang aggression, try to introduce all your tangs at the same time and also make sure they have a constant supply of algae to pick at throughout the day.

Bristletooth Tomini Tangs are amazing algae eaters and will spend their entire day picking at your live rock for algae. Bristletooth Tomini Tangs are a bit more hardy than some tangs as well, but it is still highly recommended that your quarantine them first before introducing them to your display tank.

Bristletooth Tomini Tangs are herbivores and require a diet rich in green foods. Foods like nori, algae sheets, spirulina, high quality flake and pellet foods as well as mysis shrimp will help keep your Bristletooth Tomini Tang happy and healthy. Also adding supplements like Selcon and garlic to their food will boost their immune system.
