  • Description
  • The Orange Stripe Bristletooth Tang is a very colorful and stunning surgeonfish. Orange Stripe Bristletooth Tangs are most more colorful as juveniles where they have a mostly blue body with strong horizontal orange stripes going along its body. When a Orange Stripe Bristletooth Tang becomes an adult, they lost most of their blue and orange coloration and tend up more a tan color.

Orange Stripe Bristletooth Tangs reach a maximum adult size of around 10 inches and need to be kept in tanks that are at least 125 gallons. Orange Stripe Bristletooth Tangs are semi-aggressive fish and shouldn't bother too many other fish, coral or inverts in your tank. This makes the Orange Stripe Bristletooth Tang a good addition to reef tanks.

Orange Stripe Bristletooth Tangs can be aggressive to other tangs, especially those in the Ctenochaetus family. To try and reduce aggression between tangs, you should try to introduce them at the same time and also try to provide them with as much algae as possible to pick at. Orange Stripe Bristletooth Tangs are strong swimmers and require lots of open swimming space, typically longer tanks are better suited for tangs.

Orange Stripe Bristletooth Tangs are herbivores and require a diet that is rich in green foods. Foods like marine algae and nori sheets, high quality flake and pellet foods, spirulina, high quality frozen foods and mysis and brine shrimp should keep your Orange Stripe Bristletooth Tang healthy and happy. Orange Stripe Bristletooth Tangs are also excellent algae eaters and will even eat some types of nuisance algae.
