The Skunk Tilefish is an absolutely beautiful fish from the Indo-Pacific Ocean. Skunk Tilefish have a mostly all white body with a strong brilliant red horizontal stripe and red tail.

Skunk Tilefish reach a maximum adult size of around 5 inches and need to be kept in tanks that are at least 55 gallons in size. Skunk Tilefish are peaceful fish and should get along with other fish, coral and inverts in your tank. This makes the Skunk Tilefish a great fish to add to reef tanks.

It is best to keep Skunk Tilefish in a pair, not doing so might make adjusting to life in an aquarium hard for a single Skunk Tilefish. Skunk Tilefish are strong jumpers and should only be kept in tanks with a tight fitting hood with no holes large enough for them to jump through. Skunk Tilefish have to be kept in system with a decent depth sand bed since they need to burrow. Not having a sand bed will stress your Skunk Tilefish out and likely lead to their demise. Having a good amount of live rock in the tank will also give the Skunk Tilefish another place to hide and also will allow them to pick at small inverts off of the rock between feedings.

Skunk Tilefish are carnivores and require a diet that is rich in meaty foods. Foods like mysis and brine shrimp, small pieces of fresh seafood and high quality meaty frozen foods should keep your Skunk Tilefish healthy and happy. Skunk Tilefish are very active fish, so it's better to feed them a few small meals a day.

If you have any questions about the Skunk Tilefish and if it's the right fish for your tank, please feel free to contact us at any time.
