  • Description
  • The Humu Picasso Triggerfish, scientifically known as Rhinecanthus aculeatus, is a captivating and vibrant fish that's a popular choice for marine aquariums. Its striking appearance, with a tan body adorned with dark bands and electric blue and black stripes on its head, makes it a true showstopper. These fish hail from the Indo-Pacific region, where they inhabit coral reefs and lagoons, using their powerful jaws and teeth to crush invertebrates and crustaceans.

In the aquarium setting, Humu Picasso Triggerfish require a spacious environment to thrive. A tank of at least 180 gallons is recommended to accommodate their active swimming habits and potential for territorial behavior. Providing ample live rock with caves and crevices allows them to establish territories and exhibit their natural behaviors. While they can be kept with other larger, more robust fish, they are not reef safe as they tend to nip at corals and invertebrates.

Humu Picasso Triggerfish have a varied diet in the wild, feeding on a range of invertebrates, crustaceans, and small fish. In captivity, it's essential to provide them with a balanced diet that includes high-quality marine pellets, frozen meaty foods like krill and shrimp, and occasional live foods. They also benefit from having hard-shelled foods like clams or crabs to help wear down their continuously growing teeth. With proper care and a suitable environment, Humu Picasso Triggerfish can make a fascinating and engaging addition to a marine aquarium.
