  • Description
  • The Lunula Trigger is a very rare and colorful triggerfish. Lunula Triggers have a mostly tan body with a white belly and strong black stripe going through their eyes. Lunula Triggers also have a yellow half moon pattern before their tail, hence their nickname.

Lunula Triggers reach a maximum adult size of around 10 inches and need to be kept in tanks that are at least 125 gallons. Lunula Triggerfish are aggressive fish and should not be kept in smaller more docile fish and inverts. Lunula Triggers have been known to enjoy moving rocks around the tank as well. For these reasons, Lunula Triggerfish are not the best choice for reef tanks.

Lunula Triggerfish will flourish in larger fish only tanks with other large semi-aggressive to aggressive tank mates. Lunula Triggers also enjoy having lots of live rock to hide in as well if they feel threatened.

Lunula Triggers are carnivores and require a diet that is rich in meaty foods. Foods like mysis and brine shrimp along with high quality meaty foods will keep your Lunula Trigger healthy and happy. As a Lunula Trigger gets older they will require more substantial foods like large chunks of fresh seafood like scallops, clams, squid and shrimp will help a mature Lunula Trigger thrive. Foods with hard shells should also keep the teeth of your Lunula Trigger ground down.

Please feel free to contact us at any time if you have any questions about the Lunula Trigger and if it's the right trigger for your tank.
