  • Description
  • The Spotted Triggerfish is a very large and rarely seen trigger in home aquariums. Spotted Triggerfish are mostly fully black with many silver and light blue spots on their body.

Spotted Triggerfish reach a maximum adult size of around 20 inches and need to be kept in tanks that are at least 300 gallons in size. Spotted Triggerfish are aggressive fish that should not be kept with smaller less aggressive fish. Spotted Triggerfish are also known to like moving rocks around. This makes them a horrible addition to reef tanks.

If added to larger fish only tanks, the Spotted Triggerfish can be a truly amazing addition to your tank. Spotted Triggerfish will also sometimes make grunting noises in your tank. Spotted Triggerfish are strong swimmers and do best with lots of open swimming space in the tank. Having lot of live rock is great as well, since it will allow your Spotted Triggerfish to hide if they feel spooked.

Spotted Triggerfish are carnivores and require a diet that is very rich in meaty goods. Foods like chunks of fresh seafood like scallops, shrimp, clams and fish will keep your Spotted Triggerfish healthy and happy. Foods with a hard shell will also help file down a Spotted Triggerfish' large teeth.
