  • Description
  • The Red Hairy Hermit Crab can be extremely useful in your reef tank. The deep red crab has hairy legs and will be a very peaceful member of your tank.

This species of hermit crab can grow to around 2 inches in size. Like most smaller hermit crabs, the Red Hairy Hermit Crab can be kept in tanks as small as 10 gallons and are easy to keep. All of this makes the Red Hairy Hermit crab a great invertebrate for beginners. Make sure that larger shells are available for the Hairy Hermit Crab to move into when they outgrow their original shells. If shells are not available, Hairy Hermit Crabs have been known to kill larger snails for their shells. Besides this, the Hairy Red Hermit Crab is very peaceful.

Hairy Red Hermit Crabs are extremely useful in your tank and will just spend the day walking around the tank looking for any leftover food to eat. They are an essential part of the clean up crew for your tank.

Red Hairy Hermit Crabs are omnivores, meaning they will eat almost anything they find in the tank. For the most part you will not need to supplement their diet, but if need be you can add some marine algae.
