  • Description
  • The Sea Apple is a stunning and very unique invertebrate. Sea Apples generally are blue or purple with bright red feeding tentacles.

Sea Apples reach a maximum size of around 8 inches and need to be kept in tanks that are at least 55 gallons. Sea Apples are very peaceful and will not bother other fish, coral or inverts found in reef tanks. Sea Apples need to be kept in tanks that do not have aggressive fish that will bother other inverts, such as angelfish and triggers.

Sea Apples also need lots of live rock to be present in the tank. Sea Apples will often wonder through the tank until they find a suitable position to feed. Sea Apples feed by extending their tentacles which filter the water for food. If there is not enough food in the water column, then simple add some micro-plankton into the tank.

Sea Apples are poisonous when they die and kill other fish, inverts and coral when they die. For the most part just make sure they have no way to get into your overflow, powerheads or pumps and you should be fine. Also the larger you system’s total water volume, the less chance there is for something catastrophic happening if your Sea Apple dies.
