  • The Chambered Nautilus is a unique and truly interesting invert. Chambered Nautilus have a mostly white body with strong red to brown stripes. Chambered Nautilus also have tons of fleshy tentacles.

    Chambered Nautilus reach a maximum adult size of around 8 inches and need to be kept in tanks that are at least 90 gallons in size. Chambered Nautilus are semi-aggressive creatures and will go after smaller fish and inverts. Chambered Nautilus are deep water dwellers and need to be kept in tanks with very cool water temperatures and also in darker environments. For these reasons, the Chambered Nautilus is a bad choice of invert to be kept in reef tanks.

    Chambered Nautilus swim by regulating gases in their shells. Chambered Nautilus have terrible eyesight, so they catch their food with an extremely good sense of smell. While the Chambered Nautilus is an incredibly interesting and unique creature, it's tank needs mean that only the most experienced of aquarists or those who have had experience with the species before should attempt to keep a Chambered Nautilus.

    Chambered Nautilus are carnivores and require a diet that is rich in meaty foods. Foods like live feeder fish and shrimp will help your Chambered Nautilus grow and thrive.
